FVC powers online training

2020 has been a year that has brought many challenges that have affected everyone in health, lifestyle, work and business. One of the many issues that businesses have faced since early this year is the impossibility of staging conferences and meetings in the way that they have been used to. The loss of face-to-face interactivity, networking and collaboration has benefits that this brings.

Online business training and webinars have exploded in popularity this year driven by necessity. However, accessible technology for all have made this alternative very viable and has been embraced by many for its advantages. This way of conducting business now has more support and is likely to be a permanent change.

Structured product training

This autumn, FVC was delighted to work with www.structuredretailproducts.com to provide an in-depth two part web delivered training course on structured products. In previous years, Tim Mortimer, Managing Director at FVC had presented these in person at SRP’s conferences in London and Chicago but this year the content moved online. This allows many more to participate by watching the course videos on demand.

The training course is available through Structured Edge, FVC’s research platform here.

Part 1 looks at the fundamentals of creating structured products, bringing them to market and an examination of the pricing and variants of some of the most common product types. Part 2 looks at regulatory and compliance issues of suitability and testing, how to analyse products through stress testing, backtesting and adviser facing reports. This section includes hands on examples in Excel and other applications. Finally, the effect of a structured product in a portfolio is discussed.

In order to provide a live opportunity to go with the training, SRP and FVC are hosting a free live Q&A session on Thursday 28th October at 3pm UK time (11am ET in the US, 4pm CET in Europe), where Tim Mortimer will take questions on the content and related areas. Registration is here.

Explaining the UKSPA Portfolio Optimiser

Earlier this summer, FVC and the UK Structured Products Association held three live webinars on the UKSPA Portfolio Optimiser tool, built and powered by FVC. The application is hosted on the UKSPA website and two of the webinars are available on the UKSPA website video section: Understanding the report and Advancing your client proposition.

These webinars were very well received and attended, further evidencing the power of this medium. Technology has always been an important part of financial services and analysis, and structured products have been a pioneer of innovation for several decades.

We expect the wider business world to continue to increase uptake of web delivered training and networking, and FVC looks forward to working further with its clients and partners in the coming months.
